What is Datastudio?
Datastudio is a tool which grants freedom of creativity and encourages visual thinking for a user to visualize and track his Contact Center's data. The user can use Datastudio to create graphs and dashboards, to display statistics, group them into folders or even feature them so they can be more easily searched for.
The Datastudio Homepage information page will teach you the basics on how to interact with the interface.
Ahead we will explain some of the basic concepts that integrate the Datastudio experience:
The Dashboard
The Dashboard represents the center of your experience in Datastudio, it is there that you will find all of your important information displayed. Dashboards themselves are composed of individual panels which track different values of your choice.
Think of the Dashboard much like a dashboard in a car, a visual representation of information crucial to the driver, composed of different panels illustrating how much gas you have or at which speed you are going.
In the same way, Datastudio Dashboards are your main screen where all of the information is handily displayed:
The image illustrates a Dashboard comprised of two panels: One displaying a table and the other representing a still-empty graph.
You can create multiple Dashboards, which you will then be able to access from a list.
Panels
Panels are the individual pieces that build a Dashboard. "Panel" is a catch-all term since panels can take many forms (Graphs, Numbers, Tables, etc...), which is what makes them such a versatile tool. Panels are fully customizable to a client's needs.
You can find a guide on how to operate Dashboards and Panels by clicking here.
Metrics
The way in which Datastudio interacts with data is through something known as a Query. Whether you are trying to set the values for a graph or trying to set up alert rules you will be met with a field such as this:
This will allow you to run a Query. Think of a Query as the system's way of asking you questions until it narrows down on the variable of your choosing. It will ask you what metric you are using, what breakdown you choose, what filters to employ, etc. The goal is to go from a macro to a micro perspective until it displays only the information of your choosing.
To get you familiar with the language of metrics, here is a table with the available metrics and their explanations.
Rows
Rows help with the organization of your Dashboards. You can group Panels by row, rows. Rows can have multiple Panels.
You can also hide rows if you wish to conceal the information. Click here to learn more on rows.
